We invite authors of accepted papers at the AAAI Spring Symposium on Machine Learning and Knowledge Engineering for Knowledge-Grounded Semantic Agents (MAKE 2026) to submit extended versions of their work to the Neurosymbolic Artificial Intelligence (NAI) Journal.
Submissions to this special issue must represent substantial journal-level extensions of the corresponding MAKE 2026 symposium papers. Please note that not every symposium paper will necessarily be suitable for a journal extension. Submissions should therefore present a clear and significant advancement over the original MAKE 2026 publication.
Where possible, we will invite reviewers of the corresponding MAKE 2026 paper to review the extended version. Authors are therefore encouraged to clearly describe in the cover letter the differences between the MAKE 2026 version and the submitted manuscript.
Submission of extended MAKE 2026 symposium papers
Authors may submit manuscripts that are extended versions of papers previously published in the MAKE 2026 symposium proceedings. However, the journal version must meet the journal’s quality criteria and must clearly go beyond the previously published content. For example, by providing detailed proofs, a more rigorous evaluation, a comprehensive overview of (and comparison to) related work, an implementation, or any other significant contribution. This makes the work suitable for archival journal publication. Moreover, authors have to ensure that the submitted manuscript does not violate any copyrights that may have been transferred to the entity publishing the previous work. Finally, the submitted manuscript must clearly state the prior publication it is based on.
Deadline
Submission deadline: October 15, 2026
Earlier submissions will be processed as they are received.
